Drama Department Casts ^Dr. Faustas' GETTING IN THE MOOD—Cast of "Everyman" production hams it up under the evil eye of director. Richard Reed (lower, center). -~~-amm Drama Club Presents Medieval 'Everyman' Richard Reed and a cast of 15 will present the medieval "Everyman" to George Mussachio's Old English class this evening in the chapel. Reed, director of the production and president of the newly- formed Drama Club, cast the play "on intuition alone. After some rearranging of parts, I am now completely satisfied." David Simmons characterizes Everyman. Laura Banta plays the Messenger. Richard Reed, director, reads the voice of God. Nancy Baker is Death, with Mary Thomas as Fellowship. Kindred is enacted by Karen Culley and Theatre of Mind Will Present 'Dandelion Wine' The college theatre group has primarily performed off-campus programs in the past. This year, however, the student body will have the opportunity to experience ''Theatre of the Mind" at special presentations on campus. The first of these programs will be presented Oct. 26 . The group has chosen to present an adaptation of Ray Bradbury's "Dandelion Wine," a moving story of a young boy who discovers the joy of being alive and the saddening thought that we must eventually die. The program will begin at 8 p.m. in the chapel. No admission will be charged. This year, Readers Theatre includes: Gayle Gardner, Joy Harkinson, Ann Williams, Mel- anie Johnson, Richard Reed, and Merle Wiseman. The group is under the direction of Ray Hind- man. Mable Smith is Cousin. Goods is Trudy Robinson; Good Deeds, Melanie Johnson; and Ann Williams, Knowledge. Kelley Dial portrays Confession. Beauty is Debby O'Neil. Dwlght Hersom is strength with Jan Williams as Discretion. Laurel Castro is Five Wits and Diana Rendleman plays the Angel. The renowned Doctor of Theology will be George Maus- sachio. Eddy Merine and Ruby Hansen designed and created the costumes. Steve Jones will handle the lighting effects; Alan Cosby is in charge of set construction. "Everyman" is allegorical. Costuming, will consist of long robes. "The heavies will wear black; the good guys will wear white. Everyman will wear grey," Reed commented. Make-up is less than tradl- CBC Choir To Open State Convention The choirs of California Baptist College have been asked to sing at the opening meeting of the California Baptist State Convention meeting to be held at the Riverside Auditorium, Nov. 11. Last year this honor was accorded to the C.B.C. choirs and also to the chamber singers, who with the assistance of former director, James Walker, received a standing ovation. This year the chapel choir, under the direction of Dr. Curtis Cheek, will present the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" by Peter Tchaikovsky. The choirs will be accompanied by orchestra and piano. tional. The character Death will be masked in florescent tempora paint. Other productions will be undertaken by the club this year. The kinds of productions will be no-budget, financed by the Drama Dept., and low-budget, financed by the actors themselves. A Shakespearean play, possible Henry IV, and a rendition of David Copperfield, as well as small original works, will be undertaken by the club at a later time. "There is an advantage in belonging to the club over belonging to the drama dept.," Reed said. "You don't need to get tangled up with the business office and requisition slips. We are much more flexible, more of an extracurricular activity. Sort of a vigilante group. And by The drama department is now in rehearsal for the production of Christopher Marlowe's play, "Dr. Faustas." This production will feature Noel Walker as Faustas and Jack Lane as Me- phistophllis, under the direction of Bob Hughes. Walker and Land are joined by 23 other thespians in portraying this story. Dr. Faustas is a very learned man who becomes dissatisfied with the usual life afforded by knowledge, wisdom and prestige, and thus turns to magic as a possible means of attaining happiness. He conjures Mephis- tophilis who is an agent of Lucifer, and Mephistophilis agrees to serve as messenger between Lucifer and Faustis. An agreement is made whereby Faustas receives 24 years of luxurious living in exchange for his soul. The remainder of the play is a struggle between good and evil, to see if Faustas will repent before it is too late. Service Teams Named for Revivals This week five service teams were chosen. Chairman of the service ministries committee Paul Warren and his associates Becky Jones, Candy Jones, Ken Steward, and Linda Gallagher worked many strenuous hours selecting this year's service teams. A team consists of regularly enrolled students. In each team there is a preacher, music leader, pianist, and forum leader. The goal of each team member is to be a witness in all actions and reach every group for Christ. Each person selected for revival teams are selected on the basis of the spiritual, moral, leadership, and scholastic qualities they have attained. S will be Impossible for every applicant to go on a team this year. The five teams are as follows: Team one: Preacher, Clyde Horn; Song Leader, Mike Washam; Pianist, Ginger Taylor; Forum Leader, Carmen Sandoval.
