Although the college administration has registered a formal protest, there is little chance that the route of the new super highway can be changed. Construction will begin April 1 on the freeway, which will be elevated over the main administration building. The new highway will then go directly across the tennis court (which will still be used, except during rush hour) and through the non-resident parking lot. The freeway will then be elevated again to save the beautiful maintenance buildings. Curving west of the Men's Residence Hall, the freeway will then pass through the narrow space between that building and Simmons Hall, making communication between the two buildings virtually impossible. For the young women who wish to go to classes, helicopter service will be available by August, 1974. con 't. pg. 2 see April X Po+i-cd tiAes indifea.tc p<"fcpti*;d The proposed freeway will slice Cal.
