BSU Members To Receive Challenge Officers to be Installed, Missionaries Dedicated The BSU installation of officers and dedication of summer missionaries begins at 7:30 tonight in the dining hall. Invited guests will meet the 1972-73 council, the SCOPE summer missionaries, HMB summer missionaries and the summer revival teams. Rev. Harold Elliott, pastor Mira Loma Baptist Church will give the charge to the new council. The new council consists of Richard Flood, president; Bruce Wade, on-campus ministries director; Eldon Hayes, off-campus ministries director; Marsha Noe, communications director; Carmen Sandoval, summer missions director; and Sandy Poe secretary. The council has already begun plans for the coming year and have even planned the program for the fall retreat. The summer missionaries will be challenged by Dr. Hyatt. SCOPE summer missionaries are Jack Lift, Ricardo Lobato, Sharon Rouppet, Vicky Roy, and JDenise Waikins. Jack and Denise will be working in a national park in Virginia. Ricardo will be working in Bakersfield with the Spanish-speaking. Vicky and Sharon will serve as youth directors in neighboring churches in California. The SCOPE missionaries attended an orientation meeting at the Leadership Training Con ference held recently at Hume Lake. The HMB missionaries are Richard Flood, Charlie Leffingwell, and Cindy Stuessy. Richard and Charlie will serve in New Mexico. Cindy will workinYose- mite, California in Bible schools. Ken Drake and Al Gebauer will serve in special summer positions. Ken will work at Lake Tahoe and Al will serve on a state evangelism team. The summer revival teams are called Alpha and Beta. Alpha team members are, Randy Bennett, preacher; Steve Barchman, music director; Jeanette Benedict, pianist; and Laura Samson, forum leader. Beta team consists of Darrel Walker, preacher; Jeri Edwards, pianist; and Carmen Sandoval, forum leader. The teams will work in revivals, youth camps, and Bible schools in California, Oregon and Washington. Presenting special music for the evening will be Marion Mc- Kenzie and Rev. and Mrs. Oren Teel. Gee to Appear in Final Concert Of Year, 'Soul Connection' By Debbie Belohovek Nominated Best Concert of the Year: "Soul Connection", "Better than "Soul on the Roof, ■Clockwork Soul', 'Flute', and The Last Soul Show'", although it will be the last concert Sammy Gee will do here on campus (boo- hoo). If you want to hear some oldies but goodies suchas "Splish Splash", "16 Tons", "Angel Baby", boogaloo down to the gym May 26, for a boogie-woogie time. There will be three out-of- sight and spiffy groups.TheCali- fornia Blues Company, Sammy Gee's group, and Sonshine Package will appear for a two-hour Friday night bash-in! And just think, only 25<p for a fun-filled million-dollar night. Dress will be something you have that you never got to wear because it was wierd, or just something comfortable, like a good old pair of jeans. The program will consist of two moods: religious themes and rock. Please don't be "spazzed out" because these two moods will be expressed together in soul connection. It's just going to be one ofthe ways to express the inner emotions of the entertainers to you with a little vibes and pure soul from deep down inside! There will be a I5-minute intermission for those who go to sleep early or want to come in late. So listen you young vibe lovers, come on down to listen to some good music before the disruption of our lovely finals. 8:15 sharp, May 26. (you'll love it) Stephen C. Pallady To Take Over For Retiring Prof Beginning in the fall semester, 1972, we will welcome a new professor of languages to our campus. Mr. Stephen C. Pallady is completing a doctoral program at the University of Oklahoma with a major in Spanish and a minor in French. Hisdoctoral dissertation is entitled 'The Irony in the Poetry of Jose' de Espron- ceda." A native of Oklahoma C ./, Pal lady ' s undergraduate training was done at Central State University. Single and twenty-nine years old, Mr. Pallady will be taking the place left by the retirement of Professor U.R. Neely. Professor Neely will be teaching his last classes this summer. Carmen Sandoval will serve on this council. "Royal Gambit" to Relate Story of Henry VIII A royal gambit, in chess, is a move requiring a player to sacrifice a pawn, or pawns, in order to gian time. In CBC's "Royal Gambit", to be presented May 18, 19, and 20 at 8 pm in the chapel, King Henry VIII (Lee Scanlon) does this with each of his six wives until his time finally runs out on him completely. "Royal Gambit" is a modern morality play presented in the French debat form. "Gambit" asks a variety of searching questions about modern mankind, including: Where is man heading? It is a play about two opposing forces, mankind versus religion or faith. "Royal Gambit", directed by Scanlon, acting theater arts department head, will be presented in authentic Renaissance costume. Assistant director for the play will be Denise Watkins. Henry's six wives will be enacted by Jerri Eurich (Katrina of Ara- gon), Kelley Dial (Anne Boleyn), Becky Werner (Jane Seymour) Melanie Johnson (Anna of Cleves), Darlene Trailor (Kath- eryn Howard), and Jeannette Ware (Kate Parr). Tickets for the drama department's production of "Royal Gambit" are available now through the department office. The prices on the pre-sale reservations are 50<f for students and $1 for adults. Tickets bought at the door will be $1 for students and $1.50 for adults. The weekend of May 18, 19, and 20 should present the spendour of Henry VIII's England as well as presenting the moral issue represented in "Royal Gambit". STEPHEN C. PALLADY
