Constitution Approved With New Provisions The new constitution was approved by a vote of 120 to 47. Written by ASB president Wally Grubb and business manager Ricardo Azurdia, it had been amended by the senate and then presented to the student body. The new provisions to the constitution are: 1.) The second vice president will be called social chairman. 2.) Sophomores will be eligible to run for the presidency. 3.) Freshmen will be eligible to run for any office except the presidency. 4.) A guideline for attendance and performance for the ASB officers was established. 5.) An activity board was created. A.) Each class will be represented by one member, preferably the president. B.) Each chartered club will be represented J> y one member, preferably the president. C.) Non-resident students will be represented by two members that they elect. D.) ASB social chairman will be a member of the board. Foreign Students Plan April Retreat The international students will have their annual retreat on April 13-15 at Camp Sugar Pine. There will be two speakers. One is Dr. Findlay Graham, president ofthe Baptist seminary, Beirut Lebonon, who is teaching this year at GoldenGate Seminary. He has been on this campus already and is well known among CBC students. Also speaking will be Benton Williams, international students consultant for the Baptist Sunday School Board. He is a former missionary to Thailand. There will be a sightseeing tour to Yosemite National Park, discussion and examination of the Christian faith, a talent parade, films, fellowship and new friends. Any international student is welcome. American students who will bring their international friends are also encouraged to attend. This is a good opportunity for international students to have fellowship with other international students and to study the Bible. McKenzie Recital Scheduled Tuesday IT'S EASY! Twelve CBC individuals are learning how to use the new IBM composer. This composer is one of the most versatile units of its calibre. Fun Planned For BSU Cal Baptist will host BSUers from the Fresno area Friday and Saturday. Students from Fresno City and Fresno State will arrive at 8 p.m. Friday will be a fun night of volleyball, basketball, and other activities in the gym. Saturday will consist of outdoor recreation unless it rains. A picnic lunch will be provided by the international students. CBC students are inviting students to stay in their rooms for the night. 'The purpose for this meeting", according to Joe Cutsinger," is for fellowship. It will provide an opportunity to discuss common and diverse issues." This is the first attempt for a campus-to-campus fellowship. Other campuses will be invited to share in such a day and it is hoped the invitations will be reciprocal. Second semester sophomores -are reminded that they are to file a degree plan in the registrar's office if they have chosen a major. They are encouraged to make an appointment for the filingattheir convenience. E.) The head cheerleader will be a member of the board. F.) The activities director of the dean of student affairs office will serve as the advisor for the board. The activities board will now be able to approve charters, schedule events, spend funds, and approve appointed cheerleaders. The constitution sets guidelines for finances and provisions for bylaws and directives as well. A judicial board appointed by the president will interpret the constitution and also rule on student parking violations. Circle K Aids Easter Seal Association Circle __K ..is on the go again, this time they are passing out Easter Seal containers to the stores in the Tyler-Magnolia area. Already the service club has distributed 200 containers. This year the campaign slogan is "Have you ever wanted something so much that ithurts?" The boys go out in teams of two, to stores and get permission to set them up. Later they return with the containers and a . poster. "It's really a neat thing. It gives us a chance to meet people and to help too," remarked Cliff Hartwell, co-chairman of the campaign. Gary Golden is the other co- chairman. Other members involved are: Mike McGuffee,Greg Williams, Mark Craig, Wally Grubb, Darrel Walker, Rawlin Warta, Al Johnson, Don Fugate, and Steve Tillman. CBC Grad Speaks At SCTA Meeting Jimmy Taylor was guestx speaker at the SCTA meeting Monday. Taylor, now a teacher at the Pacific Avenue School in Jurupa District, is a graduate of CBC. He is teaching fifth grade, and according to Mrs. Wilma T. Brown, has become an outstanding teacher. Taylor's discussion was on "Problems for Future Teachers". MARION MC KENZIE Four long years of voice-training, breath control, and enunciation has prepared Miss Marion McKenzie for her senior recital. The first of 14 junior-senior recitals to be held inthe school's chapel, Miss McKenzie will be accompanied on the piano by Miss Donna Forrest, a sophomore piano major. It will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 8 p.m. Some of the songs to be included are "Mein glaubiges Herze, frohlocke" (My Heart Ever Faithful) composed by Bach; Brahm's "Madchenlied" (Maiden Song); the aria, 'The Jewel Song" from Charles Gounod's opera "Faust", "Aurore"(Dawn)written by Faure';andHageman's "At the Well". Other composers from whom songs will be sung are Handel, Strauss, and Duke. The highlight of the recital is the aria from "Faust", 'The Jewel Song". It is also Miss McKenzie's favorite song of those she will be singing. From Bellflower, Miss McKenzie has been active in Tro- veres, Concert Choir, Chapel Choir, and Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church where she has been a memberof college-career choir and adult choir. She looks forward to a church-related vocation after graduation; however, she is unsure of what it will be. STUDY AND RELAXATION BSU'ers will repeat such scenes when they travel to the Colorado River at Easter. BSU Invites Students On Witnessing Retreat A week's stay on the beautiful Colorado River during Easter break is available to CBC students. For only a small fee of $15 you can receive comfortable lodging and excellent food. This low price also includes trans- K-ettes To Sponsor K-ettes have decided to sponsor an orphan through the World Vision program. They will send SI2 a month to support this orphan. Information and pictures regarding their child will be given to the group. To earn this money, K-ettes is sponsoring money-raisingactivi- ties. One idea they are considering is making small items to sell on campus. Heading the fund- raising committee to raise money is Zella Whorton and assisting her is Debbie Donalson. Other K-ettes action included the election of three officers. Vice-president is Carol Bonollo, historian is Becky Cheek, and work coordinator is Zella Whorton. Wednesday, March 28 is the next meeting. A talk will be given on the essentials of first aid. portation. This offer is presented to you by BSU. California BSUers are planning another resort ministry at the Colorado River from April 16 to April 21. The purpose of this ministry is to introduce many vacationers to JesusChrist. Last year 15 CBC students participated in this vital ministry. Students will prepare their- selves by having Bible study and -witness training in the morning sessions. Fellowship and sharing with voung people on the beaches willjfill the afternoons. Music concerts and a coffeehouse ministry will attract young people to the group at night so further sharing and witnessing can be conducted.
