Alumni of CBC honor Reeder and Jorden June Reeder and Robert Jorden were recently named alumni of the year in honor of their professional achievements and continued interest and service in CBC. Miss Reeder, a 1956 graduate, currently serves as CBC's Technical Processes Librarian. She received her Master of Library Science degree from USC in 1956. She is a member of the California Library Association, Southern California Technical Processing Group, Christian Librarians Association and Toast- mistress International. She also represents Cal Baptist on the Riverside City College's Advisory Board for its Library Intern Program. In addition Miss Reeder represents CBC on the steering committee of the Inland Empire Library Coope rat i ve and has .served as the Calvary Arrowhead Associational Librarian for the past three years. Bob Jorden, a 1967 graduate, has served two years as principal of Rosemary Kennedy School and for the past two years has been principal of Virginia Primrose School in Fontana. Obtaining his Master's degree from Cal State L.A. he is now in the doctoral program at the University of North Colorado. Jorden is secretary of the Board of Directors of the Fontana YMCA, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Fontana Rehabilitation Workshop, Fontana Association of School Administration and California Association of School Administrators. He is co-chairman of the San Bernardino County Special Education Administrators Association. He has taught special education classes at CBC as well as at Chapman College. He was listed in the 1972 edition ofOutstanding Young Men in America. Joint concert slated March 12 The Music Department under the direction of Dr. CurtisCheek will present a concert in the Book of Life Building featuring the Trouveres, the Chamber Orchestra, Lawrence Johansen on the trumpet, and Camile Churchfield on the flute. The concert will include three composers, Bach, Teleman, and Mozart. It will be held March 12 and will begin at 8 p.m. STUDENT C. T. A. Student C. T. A. will meet Monday, March 11 at 10a.m. in Room 125. DR. AND MRS. JAMES R. STAPLES present Bob Jorden with the award. Mission Inn transformed for show JUNE REEDER is presented her award by Dr. and Mrs. James R. Staples. Students named for SCOPE Areas of the Mission Inn, Riverside's landmark hostelry dating back to 1875, have been transformed by local interior decorators for the fourth Living With Art show, a major fund raising project of the Riverside Art Alliance for operating expenses of the Riverside Art Center and Museum. Community hopes of maintaining the Mission Inn, which has been designated a local, state and national landmark, prompted the Art Alliance to feature parts of Rick Warren and Kay Lewis have been selected to serve in the BSU-sponsored summer missions program called SCOPE. SCOPE means Sharing Christ with Others by Proclaiming Everywhere. They will serve with six other students from other campuses throughout California. Warren, a sophomore, will work at the Nagasaki Youth Center in Japan. He will teach English classes, preach English sermons, and prepare an English communique: He has been active the past few summers in the state evangelism team program. Warren is currently Outreach Leader for CSM. interviewed by a committee composed of a representative from each campus within that region, state officers and BSUdirectors. The interviewers convened in Fresno last weekend to make suggestions and final appointments. Ricardo Lobato and Carmen Sandoval represented CBC on the selection committee. the Inn now that Urban Housing is restoring it. The show will give many their first opportunity to see the renowned Alhambra room, the famed Bridal Suite, and rooms "De Los Escritores" or rooms of the authors named for prominent writers who lived there; Zona Gale, Joseph Lincoln, Harold Bell Wright, Henry Van Dyke, and Carrie Jacobs Bond whose most famous song, 'The End of a Perfect Day," was inspired by the view from the Inn. Two of the offices in the Rotunda have also been refurbished for the show. During the show a number of Southern California artists in a wide variety of media will give daily demonstrations Of their work, in keeping with the "Living With Art" theme. Daily entertainment in the Spanish performing arts will also be provided and there will bean Art Gallery on the basement floor of the Rotunda. The show will be open from March 23 through April 7, daily, Simmons Hall to hove foreign student night RICK WARREN KAY LEWIS Miss Lewis, also a sophomore, will travel to Birmingham, Ala. to serve in an inner-city ministry. She will be involved in teen- center work, in coffee house ministries, and vacation Bible Schools. She is vice president of CSM and a member of LesChan- teuses. Other students serving under the program are Lynn Epton, inner city work in Chicago, 111.; Floyd Gwaltney in Indiana in construction work, and Janet Bauer and Sharon Varney, in California BSU work. Completing the group are Stan Naganishi and Phil Anderson who will be involved with youth work in California. Each applicant traveled to a regional meeting where he was A Foreign Student evening will be held March 19 in the third floor lounge of Simmons Hall. Foreign Students will delight everyone with their desserts and beverages, their customs, and their native dress. All students, men and women are invited to attend. Open House will take placeSun- day afternoon in Simmons Hall, from 2 to 4 p.m. Another bake sale will be held in Simmons Hall first floor lounge to raise money for a vacuum cleaner. The sale will be in form of an auction, conducted by Arne Di- gerud. It is hoped that buyers will get together and pay reasonable prices for the foods. Simmons Hall's women will make the goodies. There will be cakes, cookies and cupcakes and punch will be sold for 10c a glass. The sale will take place March 12, at 10 p.m. teachers must file application STUDENT TEACHERS NOTICE If you expect to do Student Teaching in the Fall you must file an application by March 15th. Applications are available in Room 164. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Thursdays and Fridays, hours will be from 11 a.m.to9p.m. Admission donations will be $2.50 and $1.50 for students with valid student cards. No one under 12 will be admitted. Tickets will be available atthe door, from Art Alliance members, at the Riverside Art Center, through participating decorators, and at Harris Company. Additional information is available by calling (714) 684- 7111 or (714) 683-7498 days, or (714) 683-0743 in the evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. Alpha Chi to hold initiation Cal Baptist's chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Society will hold its initiation ceremony for new members on Monday, March 11, at 3 p.m. in the Alhambra Room. President Jim Florence will notify those who are eligible to join. After the initiation, a brief meeting will be held to fill vacant offices and to vote on a tutoring program for foreign students. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. Dues are to be paid by March* in the Business Office, however, an extension of time may be arranged this week if necessary. Dorothy Argow, one of the advisors, states, "Alpha Chi students and alumni play an important role in the life of the college. And it is hoped that those who are eligible will join." YOUNG REPUBLICANS Ed Shepherd, Republican candidate for state assembly, will speak before the Young Republicans. He will oppose Democratic incumbent assemblyman Walter Ingalls.
