Commencement set June 1, Church service precedes The annual Commencement Ceremony will be held on the front lawn of CBC Campus, Saturday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. President James R. Staples will preside. The Brass Ensemble, conducted by Lawrence Jo- hansen will play and the Concert Choir and Brass Ensemble will present "Upon This Rock" under the direction of Michael Malek. Dr. Paul Brooks Leath will deliver the in vocation and read scriptures. Dr. Byron Todd will welcome the honorary guests. Dean Gary Collins will deliver the commencement address; and Carmen Sandoval and Al Johnson, the student address. Patricia Hicks is in charge of the presentation of class gifts. The graduating class will be presented by Dean Stephen P. Carleton. I General Convention of California. Seniors plan busy schedule The Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities Awards annual include CBC. This is not an honor which is exclusively given to outstanding .students at Cal Baptist, but is national in «cope This year, the 14 who received the award were seniors. They included: Esmer Alcala, who is a sociology major and resident assistant in Simmons Hall. Cindy Day, an English major and secretary of Alpha Chi. Sara Easter, an English/speech major and treasurer of Alpha Chi. Jim Florence, a biology major and member of Alpha Chi. Lonnie Halley, a business administration major and ASB president. Patti Hicks, a psychology and sociology major and seniorclass president. Dave Iverson.abusiness major and vice president of both Rotoract and Business Club. Tricia McCary, a psychology major and a resident assistant in Simmons Hall. Marsha Noe, a biology major and Master Key Award recipient. Sandra Poe, a biology major and a resident assistant in Sim- liMMiS iiaii. Trudy Robinson, a music major and member of Alpha Chi. Carmen Sandoval, editor ofthe BANNER and a psychology major. Yuan Par Young, a business administration major and native of Thailand. Graduating seniors have a busy schedule as they come into the "home stretch" of four long years in college. To get the most of these last few weeks, all seniors are encouraged to attend every activity. On Monday, May 21 the senior Saturday, May "15 will be the president's reception. It will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Dr. James Staples home. Then on May 31, the baccalaureate service will be held at Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church. June 1 will be the eventful day that the seniors will remember for the rest of their lives. The day will start with the Senior Breakfast at 8 a.m. All seniors should come to this. Then at 11 a.m. there will be a rehearsal for graduation. Finally graduation ceremonies will be started at 7:30. At the graduation, class president Patty Hicks will officially 'iMWftini thrV*«ttUOi ^iW«MiM school. The gift, which has already been getting a good workout in the gym for the past several weeks, is a Universal weight machine. It includes over 10 kinds of weight training stations. Miss Hicks will present the gift from the class and announce the official dedication of the machine. Pub Staff Determined WHO'S WHO RECIPIENTS Students receive academic awards The publications and scholarship committees held-, a joint meeting, Wednesday, May 15, to determine next year's staff of student publications. Carol Bonollo was chosen editor for the Angelos, Charlene Manzoni will be assistant editor and Wendy Paulson will be business manager. Miss Bonollo, served as president of K-ettes this year in addition to her responsibilities on Angelos. Miss Manzoni also assisted on the 73-74 Angelos. She is a member of Les Chanteuses and is ASB social chairman for 74-75. Fred Parsons was appointed as editor of the Banner and Sylvia Vick maintained her position as assistant editor. Parsons, characterized by Gordon Addison, "as one ofthe most prolific writers CBC has ever had", served as Banner sports editor this year. The Banner is still in need of a Business Manager. Both publications need staff members. If you are interested contact the editors. Drama Club to hold dinner The C.B.C. drama department will hold its annual awards dinner on May 24, at 5:00 p.m. The dinner will be inthecourtyards next to the chapel. After dinner everyone is invited to come to the Wallace Building for a program by Readers Theatre, and the awards presentation. Theme of the dinner will be Mardi Gras, and everyone is asked to dress accordingly. The departmental awards were presented in Honor's Day Chapel, Friday, May 17. The departments giving awards and their recipients were: Department of Art--Richard A. Hawkins; Music--Donna Lewis; English—Patricia Knox and Gale Wiseman; Speech—Carol Anne Daniels; Modern Languages - Claudia Jappe; Biology - James Florence; Business Administration—David Iverson; Education-Gail Patterson; Physical Education—Susan Morgan; Religion—William Lawson; History -- Rick Durst; Psychology -- Patricia McCary; Sociology -- John Morgan, Jr.; Political Science—Lonnie Halley and Karen Dewey; and Wall Street Journal — Lonnie Halley.
