We ^ANNER^ a? ^- Page 1, May 23, 1975 ^^^*^^^ \^%]&S& Graduation Is Next Week Departments Name Honors Winners In the Honors Day Convocation held in chapel earlier today, the following students won departmental awards: Amos Omoresemi, from Okiti- pupa, Nigeria, won the Behavioral Science Award. Amos is a senior majoring in behavioral science and religion. He has served as assistant president of the Foreign Student Club, and was a preacher on the 1974-75 Revival Team. He has attended the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary and has earned a bacculaureate degree in theology. After graduation, he wants to attend a Baptist seminary for his doctorate in ministry. Alma Rhoades, from El Cajon, Ca., won the Biology Award. Miss Rhoades is a sophomore majoring in biology with a chemistry minor. She was a CSM member and revival team pianist for 1973- 74. She won an academic scholarship, and is on the president's honor roll. She wants to attend medical school after college. Lai L. (Elizabeth) Ngan, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, won the Biology Award. Miss Ngan is a senior majoring in biology with a music minor. She has been on the dean's honor roll, and is on the president's honor roll. She is an academic scholarship recipient, and is the 1974-75 president of Alpha Chi, resident assistant of 2D Simmons Hall, and a member of Trouveres. She wants to attend graduate school. Mary Drummond, of Riverside, won the Business Administration Award. Miss Drummond is a senior majoring in business administration with an emphasis in accounting. She is on the president's honor roll, treasurer of the business club, a member of the Rotor- act Club, and has won a CSS. She wants to work in accounting. Deborah Pollock, from Auburn, Ca., won the Chemistry Award. Miss Pollock is a junior majoring in biology. She is on the president's honor roll, has won a 1974- 75 CSS, and plans for a medical career. Karen Morrill Roddy, of Riverside, won the Education Award. Miss Roddy, a senior, is a diversified education major. She is a member of Alpha Chi, SCTA, a recipient of an academic scholarship, and is on the dean's honor roll. She wants to teach elementary school. Cherilyn Morgan, ofBakersfield, won the English Award. Miss Morgan, a senior, is an English major. She is a member of Alpha Chi, is Grad Photographs To Be Available Harvey Oster will be taking formal graduation pictures this year. Graduating seniors will have the opportunity to have their picture taken after rehearsal on Saturday morning or before graduation beginning at 5:30 p.m. Those wishing to have their pictures taken can have up to three people in the picture at a cost of $5.95 for two 5x7's and four wallets in color. Those wishing to have their pictures taken should contact Carmen Sandoval in the News Bureau Office, RM. 123 on the president's honor roll, and the dean's honor roll. She won the CSS and an academic scholarship. Song Monroe, of Seaside, Ca., won the History Award. Miss Monroe is a junior majoring in hi story and political science. She has served as vice president of the Foreign Student Club, and as BSU chairman of international students. She has been a member of CSM, and was 2nd runner-up for 1975 Homecoming Queen. Laura Marie Morris, from Vista, Ca., won the Modern Foreign Language Award. Miss Morris is a freshman. She is on the dean's honor roll, and is a CSS and academic scholarship recipient. Leslie Gomez, of Riverside, won the Music Award. Gomez is a senior majoring in music. He has attended Los Angeles City College and was voted outstanding male student of the semester by the LACC music dept. He is a memberof Alpha Chi, is on the president's honor roll and the dean's honor roll, and is an academic scholarship recipient. He wants to attend seminary, and graduate school for a M.A. in musk. BMpjton !"■' Ulf Hennig, from Jonkopuig, Sweden, won the Political Science Award. Hennig, is a senior majoring in political science and public administration with a business management minor. He is a member of Alpha Chi, is on the president's honor roll, and is an academic scholarship recipient. Song Monroe also won an honorable mention in Political Science. Kathy Connolly, of Poway, Ca., won the Psychology Award. Miss Connolly, a senior, is a psychology major with a sociology minor. After college she wants to direct a preschool. Melinda Thornton, of Paramount, Ca., won the Psychology Award. Miss Thornton is a senior majoring in psychology and sociology. She has been a cheerleader, was freshman lady-in-waiting, and is a member of the Psychology Club. She is a recipient of the CSS and academic scholarship. Richard Sockey, of Spiro, Okla., won the Religion Award. Sockey, a senior, is a religion major. He is a member of Alpha Chi, is on the president's honor roll and the dean's honor roll. He wants to attend seminary after college. Teresa Holden, of Bell Gardens, Ca., won the Sociology Award. Miss Holden is the 1975 Homecoming Queen. She is a senior majoring in psychology and sociology. She was a junior varsity cheerleader, a varsity cheerleader, ASB secretary, and is a member of Alpha Chi. She is in Who's Who in American Colleges, is on the president's honor roll, the dean's honor roll, and is a recipient of the CSS and academic scholarship. Her plans after graduation include marriage to Jon Lathrop and graduate school at San Francisco State. DR. W. A. CRISWELL Dr. Criswell To Speak For Seniors Dr. W. A. Criswell, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, will be commencement speaker Saturday, May 31. The commencement ceremonies will be held on the front lawn of the college beginning at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Criswell is considered by Southern Baptists as one of the nation's top pulpiteers. His church is one of the largest in the world. It has a membership of 12,000 and an annual budget of more than a half million, dollars. The auditorium of First Baptist Church seats nearly4,000andDr.Criswell faces a crowded auditorium at nearly every service. Dr. Criswell is_a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Th.M. in 1934 and Ph.D. in 1937) and has served pastorates in Oklahoma as well as in Texas where he has, since 1944, been pastor of the First Baptist Church, succeeding Dr. George W. Truet. Dr. Criswell is a past president of the Southern Baptist Convention and the author of several books and expository commentaries. An eloquent speaker, Criswell is in constant demand as a speaker for evangelistic conferences and rallies. He was the featured speaker at the 1973 California Baptist Convention held at the Jack Tarr Hotel in San Francisco, and is scheduled to preach at an evangelistic rally sponsored by the Calvary-Arrowhead Association to be held in the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino June 1, at 7:30 p.m. Alumni Plan Breakfast Tickets for the annual senior breakfast can still be obtained from either the dean of students office or from Dr. O.T. Brown. Admission is free to all graduating seniors and a fee of $2.50 will be charged for all others. The breakfast, sponsored by the C.B.C. Alumni Association, will beheldatGriswold's restaurant in Redlands on May 31 at 7:30 a.m. The highlight of this year's breakfast will be the presentation by the Alumni of plastic encased miniature diplomas. Price is serving on the committee on credentials for theS.B.C.C. and is a trustee of Golden Gate Theological Seminary. He isalsoa member of the Southern Baptist Foundation and has been on numerous preaching missions in other areas of the world. Price, before coming to California in 1963, to assume his present pastorate, lived in Texas. He served in three different pastorates there and has been director of the Baptist Standard (State Baptist paper of Texas), on the executive board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and was a member of the program committee for the same convention. LEVI PRICE Price has received his education from Wichita Falls Junior College, Wichita Falls, Texas; Baylor University, Waco, Texas;and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. Price will be the recipient of the honorary Doctor of Divinity degree during graduation ceremonies May 31.
