Examinations in Thursday only classes will be given at the regular meeting of the classes on January 20. A senior graduating at the end of this semester with a "B" average in a course may be exempt from the final examination. Homecoming Rules Homecoming Queen nominations this year will be held differently than in the years past. All clubs and organizations that were chartered this year through ASB may nominate a Homecoming Queen candidate. As usual the candidate must be a junior or a senior. We will then have a primary election by the entire student body to select our five finalists from the list of nominees. Then the entire student body will again vote to select the Homecoming Queen. The initial club nominations must be in the Dean of Students office by Tuesday, Feb. 8 at noon. These nominees will be presented at chapel Wednesday, February 9 at 10 a.m. The primary election to select the five finalists for Queen will be Wednesday following their presentation in chapel till Friday at noon. The finalists will be presented in the special chapel on Monday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. Our final election for Queen will be on Feb. 17 and 18 (Thurs. and Fri.) and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. And the New Homecoming Queen and the four Princesses will be presented at the Homecoming Game Saturday night, Feb. 19. Sidener and Hobbs help out Ramona by Carmen Sandoval Cal Baptist Seniors, Ruth Sidener and Jerry Hobbs are serving as Forensics coaches at Ramona High School here in town. Sidener and Hobbs are both working for their subsitute teaching credential. They are coordinating the efforts of twenty members on the Foresics team while coordinating tournaments, the team, and while teaching the students the fundamentals of speech. Sidener and Hobbs have both been members of the Cal Baptist Forensics team for two years. Sidener is majoring in public administration and minoring in biology. In addition to being a member of the Forensics team she has been President of the Young Democrates of Riverside County, is a member of Alpha Kai, has been named consistently to the President and Deans list, she also served as a youth coordinator for the Carter steering committee. Sidener is a 1973 graduate of Klickitat High in Washington where she was validictorian and a member of the honor society, served as Class President, and was named to the Society of Outstanding American High School Students. In addition she was a recipient of the Betty Crocker Homemaker Award and was yearbook editor and photographer. Hobbs is a public administration and behavioral science major. While attending CBC he has been named on the president and Dean's list and was chosen most inspirational team member on the Forensics team. He has also served as a residents assistant and was past President of the Young Democrats. He is a co- youth coordinator and representative for the Carter for President Campaign in Riverside. Hobbs is a 1973 graduate of Vella Vista High in Fair Oaks where he was senior class president, member ofthe debate squad, received honorary tribute, was a member of the soccer team, and was named to the honor role. Jerry Hobbs and Ruth Sidener The Staley Lectureship The Staley Distinguished Scholar Series isaproj- ect of the Thomas F. Staley Foundation of New York. This lectureship was established in the Fall of 1969 by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Staley of Rye, New York in memory of their parents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Staley and Judge and Mrs. H. H. Haynes of Bristol, Tennessee. The Thomas F. Staley Foundation is firmly persuaded that the message of the Christian Gospel when proclaimed in its historic fullness is always contemporary, relevant and meaningful to any generation. To this end the Foundation seeks to bring to the college and university campuses of America distinguished scholars who truly believe and who can clearly communicate to students. It has been brought to our attention that in last week's BANNER Dr. iviac Whinney's name was mispelled. We stand corrected. Schedule on Page 3 Crafts Show The next edition of THE BANNER will be on February 11. this Coming up on Feb. 19th is a crafts show in which everyone is due to finals week is urged to participate. The stu dent body and the alumni associa and the semester break! tion is sponsoring this event. Dur ing this time items may be sold in the main building between lunch and dinner. Everyone may join in this crafts show on Feb. 19. More information later. Senior Class The senior class has continued 'to stay busy as they prepare for graduation. The next class meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 7. Homecoming candidates will be chosen at this meeting. Concerning graduation, any senior who wishes to speak at the ceremony is being asked to write a speech to be submitted to a panel of teachers. One male and one female speaker will be selected. Graduation announcements are on display in the bookstore. All orders must be turned in by March 1st. Also, all degree applications must be picked up and returned to the registrar's office by March.
