We 'EANNERj ^^m0^ Pace 1. Oct. 13. 1977 Art I A/ A A (J ^^tmt^^ Preview day slated forJ Friday Friday, October 14, CBC will host the first in a series of five Preview Days for prospective students. Preview Day is normally held once a year but the change to five days has been made to allow people to schedule a convienent time to visit our campus. This event allows students, families, and or sponsors to view an average day at CBC. Basically this is an opportunity for the students to get a good look at the facilities and campus. "This first Preview Day we are expecting 75 to 100 students," stated Pam Vickery, director of this event. This decrease in the number of students will make it possible for a more personal visitation. Peer advisors and other student volunteers will direct tours of the campus with hopefully a minimum of five students per group. In the past the choice has been to have a representative from each department speak during a seminar upon their department giving the students a chance to evaluate the department's services. This year all of the students will be given the opportunity to speak with the department representative of their choice and a department student to allow them to concentrate on the certain section of their education. Registration will begin at 8 in the Book of Life, followed by tours of the campus. Class visitation will continue from 9 to 11 with a special chapel presentation at 10. Speaking in chapel will be Tom Wolf. During the same service Rhaposdy, Middle Earth, and Brass Ensemble will be performing. This will be the first time Middle Earth and Brass Ensemble Regeneration THE RE'GENERATION is coming to Riverside on Saturday, October 14. This nationally acclaimed musical assemblage composed of 13 members will be making this exclusive appearance at Magnolia Baptist Church at 7:00. Conceived and developed by renowned composer and arranger, Derric Johnson, THE RE'GENERATION program is always a unique experience of sight and sound. This company of multi- talented musicians comes from all across the nation; from New York to Oregon, Florida to Minnesota! Credits? They've got plenty! Covering over a half a million miles, they've been seen by nearly four (4) million people in live performances including over 160 shows at Walt Disney World; fairs from California to North Carolina; the George Washington Honor Medal Award from the Freedoms Foundation; the New Spirit of '76 Award; featured performances for the legislators of California, Tennessee, West Virginia, Indiana, and Florida; performances at over 100 national and international conventions; and over 1500 church and college concerts. In seven years THE RE'GENERATION has amassed an amazing 3500 live performances, with 24 albums, numerous television appearances, and their "America Is. . ." radio show (aired by some 500 stations) to their credit, THE RE'GENERATION is seen and heard daily by millions of people world-wide. RE'GENERATION will be in Riverside Saturday. Off-campus club A11 off-campus students are urged to attend meetings of the newly formed Off-Campus Club, Mondays in Harden Square at 10. "Our primary goal is to meet one another. We want the off-campus students to know who each other are, "says Carolyn Bolz, spokeswoman for the group. According to Bolz, the club plans to become an effective tool for voicing off-campus students' problems. 'Too often our opinions on matters go virtually unnoticed," members insist. Charter members of the Off- Campus Club so far include students living in La Sierra, Arlington, Rubidoux, Riverside, La Puen- te, Colton, Corona, and Rialto. Members agree that the club's growth potential is staggering. "We could easily become the largest group on campus," they say. have played on our campus this year. A free barbecue lunch will be served in Harden Square. There will be musical entertainment provided. After lunch students and visitors are invited to attend and cheer the CBC soccer team on to victory as they play on their home field at 3 against Barstow City College. The day will be concluded with a concert, by Regeneration and a movie entitled "Funny Girl." The dates chosen for the other five Preview Days are: Nov. 11, Dec. 2, Feb. 17, and April 14. The February Homecoming will bring the alumni back to campus and Pam Vickery is asking that the alumni bring with them a prospective student. For those of you who were worried about not having that good old rock'em sock'em powderpuff football game for Prospective Student Day, just relax and sit back in your arm chairs for there is a possibility that there will be not one, but four powderpuff games to be held beginning with Nov. 11, (depending upon the weather, broken bodies, and sense of competitiveness). All in all the Preview Day calendar appears to be improved for the benefit of the prospective students. This improvement is justified by the idea of making the situation more 'personal' for the future students. CLUB CHARTERS ARE DUE TOMORROW Norvo Belton wins preliminary OUR PRELIM WINNER! Saturday, October 8 in our Book of Life Theatre, 5 acts participated in the Preliminary BobHope Search for the Top in Collegiate Talent Show. The competitors were excellent, but one act was to be selected on the basis of technical excellence, showmanshipand professionalism, treatment and interpretation of material but not on the basis of the other acts. After a grueling 20 minutes, the judges returned with the results. Our winner was Miss Norvo Belton singing Gospel songs and her accompanist was Randy Craig on piano. Norvo was a poised lady singing for our Lord that night. Your prayers of support are necessary when Norvo comes up against the many other college and university acts in just four more weeks. Saturday, November 5 California Baptist College will be hosting the Lower California Area Competition between all the student preliminary winners. A fine judging panel will be asked to select 9 winners who will go to the Sec- Norvo Belton tional Competition, where only 2 of those 9 will be selected to travel to Kansas City for the National Competition when Mr. Bob Hope will be present. Miss Judy Carolan is selecting the judging panel. Two of the 5 judges are Mr. Michael Kellar of Mohkou Produc tions and Mr. Warren R. Swem, II of West Coast Artists Management. Miss Carolan, Area Hostess says, "The Area Competition will be very entertaining for our campus audience. This is our chance to view the talent from our neighboring schools; like Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Art Institute in New- hall, Pepperdine, University of California at San Diego, Cal State Fresno, and USC. Our college has never participated in such an event and I am asking for everyones prayerful support and attendance. 1 know Miss Belton will covet your prayers. Thank you." The USO, Disneyland a ndDis- neyworld have shown interest in our Area Show November 5 and will have representatives present. The cost of the ticket is $2.00 and may be purchased through the office of the Resource Center beginning Monday, October 17. All proceeds go to offset the hosting costs and monies left over will be used to send the finalists to the Sectional Competition.
