/ CAUfQWRA BAPTI5T COLLEG-E, RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA Vol. Ill, No. 4 Stude.it Publication State Acknowledges Socioligy Accredited We have exciting news for those desiring to make application for a job in the Social Welfare field for the State Department of Social Welfare will acknowledge CBC's sociology department accredited. We must follow this procedure: The individual's transcript must be sent to any accredited college for evaluation. If the transcript is accepted, the accredited college then certifies the person to the Personnel Department of Social Welfare. This department in turn will give the applicant an examination, which is required for those entering the Social Welfare field. This procedure will take the place of accreditation. This recognition by the State is another step forward in the accomplishment of the accreditation of our school. Gift From Flemings Giving for the cause of California Baptist College, Mr. and Mrs. William Fleming of the Fleming Oil Company at Fort Worth, Texas, gave to Dr. Simmons a check for five thousand dollars which Dr. Simmons in turn presented to J. L. Harden, business manager. Among other contacts throughout Texas and parts of Louisiana and Oklahoma, Mr. Arlie Mays, a friend of Mr. Harden, also gave the college 250 dollars. Also while visiting with the Flemings, Mrs. Fleming took a list of books from Dr. Simmons that our library is badly in need of. The value of the books amounted to about three thousand dollars. Mrs. Fleming is known widely as a contributor of books to colleges but she made no indication whether she would purchase them or not. Addresses of these two friends of California Baptist Church will now be given and are also posted outside the chapel in case any student wishes to write and express his or her thanks.
