Bracewell of 411 Wilson Building, Houston, Texas have given $1,000 to the California Baptist College library. This money will be used for tiling the upstair floors of the library and binding periodicals or for fluorescent lights. Previously Judge and Mrs. Brace- weil and their sens gave CBC $10,000 in Broadway bonds. The Bracewells, who visited CBC last spring, have financially aided churches in California who have applied to them for short-term loans. FLEMING'S GIVE $10,000 IN BOOKS California Baptist College's Librar> is going to have $10,000 worth of new hooks through the gift of Mr. and Mrs. William Fleming of 1218 Fair Building, Fort Worth, Texas. Last year the Fleming's gave $3,200 worth of reference books to the CBC library. At one time the Fleming's were contributing to twenty-five college libraries at home and in foreign fields. Mr. and Mrs. Fleming have long dedicated their fortune to Christ. They are particularly interested in Christian Education. They gave the money for the Fleming library at Southwestern Seminary and the library building at Grand Canyon College. All other guests were seated at tables for six and enjoyed the gracious hospitality of their table host and hostess. After dinner thirty minutes were s;ent in the beautiful flower fields— and snow—of Alaska! Yes, these were color slides shown by Mr. Allie Hansen. Thank you Mr. Hansen. All this was made possible through the courtesy of our Dean of Students, Mr. Olie T. Brown. Come join us in February when Dean Brown will apain sponsor this affair which will be a Valentine Dinner Party. Jnuary 30, I960 7:00-7:45 — Breakfast. 9:00 — Registration. 10:00 — Homecoming assembly in lounge. 12:30 — Homecoming Dinner. 1:45 — Rfview of Campus Development. 2:30 — Ccmmittee meetings. 8:00 — All ex-students are invited to attend 3asketball game — CBC vs S.B.V.C. Junior varsity at San Bernardino. Dormitory Association Dinner Monday evening, January 11, the resident CBC students enjoyed the first gala "Dress-up Dinner" of the new decade. Seventy-one members were present. The guests for the evening were two of our faculty members and their lovely wives, Mr. and Mrs. LeVern Young, and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Whorton. In an atmosphere of dinner music, furnished by our own very talented Guy Elliott at the piano, the guests were greeted by the charming host and hostess of the evening, Mr. George Ray and Miss Betty Jones. They were assisted by co-host and hostesses selected from the student body. Approximately fifteen members enjoyed the honor of being guests at the birthday table, where they were delighted with the "Happy Birthday Greetings" and also enjoyed the birthday cake which was served in a most interesting and delightful manner by Judy Wilson. California Baptist College is holding its annual homecoming January 29-30. Registration will open the festivities at 4:30 p.m. on the twenty-ninth. Also on the slate of activities for the twenty-ninth is a Jayvees game with the Alumni at 6:30 and followed at 8:15 by Lancers and Azusa College. Highlights of Saturday are a Homecoming assembly at 10:00, a Homecoming dinner at 12:30 and a basketball game with S.B.V.C.'s Junior varsity in San Bernardino at 8:00. Reigning over the Homecoming will be the "Basketball Queen", elected by the team. All ex-students wishing to use college facilities should write to Mrs. Maurice Martin, college hostess, to make reservations. The use of these facilities will be free of charge to those bringing their own bedding. The usual fee will be charged to those not bringing bedding. College Faculty and Staff Women Organize The College Faculty and Staff Women have organized under the sponsorship of Dean Craig to promote more social life among the Faculty. They also have plans to sponsor several of the student activities on the campus during the year The first meeting was held in Oct. At that meeting Mrs. LeVern Young was elected president, Mrs. Loyed Simmons, vice-president and Mrs. Ed Ware, secretary-treasurer. At subsequent meetings, Miss June Reeder was elected social chairman, Mrs. Carroll Cox, courtesy chairman and Mrs. Floyce Moon, activity chairman. There are 29 members of the club. The first activity sponsored by the club was a Faculty and Staff Christmas Dinner. This was a planned pot- luck at the college under the direction of Miss Reeder. Organ music was played by Miss Kay Polk. There were about 45 present.
