About this collection

This collection features unique newspapers, journals and pamphlets from the Graduate Theological Union Library. Over the next year we will be adding issues of Right On! to complement our collections on campus ministry and the Berkeley Free Church.

The origins of the Jesus People movement is usually traced to San Francisco and the Bay Area.  Right On!, published by the Christian World Liberation Front (CWLF) in Berkeley, was one of the first "underground" Christian newspapers in the United States. The group was founded by Jack Sparks,  a former professor with a PhD in statistics, who with others in Berkeley broke away from Campus Crusade for Christ to found the CWLF. The paper was considered the most intellectual of the Jesus People publications at the time.

Other publications include Berkeley: A Center of theological education (1952) and A survey of evangelical churches in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and Alameda (English-Speaking Congregations) (1916).
