CAMPAIGN GOALS SET
This past month found the Uni-versity
of Judaism launch the
most important "Development Pro-gram"
campaign in its ten-year
history, even as classrooms to ac-commodate
more than 1,000 stu-dents
opened for the first time in
our new building at 6525 Sunset
Blvd.
A $300,000 goal has been set for
the current effort to finish all re-modeling
scheduled during the
Tenth Anniversary Year.
Among facilities now available
or soon to be added are an ex-panded
library of several thousand
volumes, a greater Jewish Muse-um,
more spacious classrooms and
Fine Arts workshops. In addition,
plans call for the extension of the
banquet hall into an auditorium or
theatre when needed.
More than 70 of Los Angeles'
top Jewish community leaders on
the campaign committee received
frcch impetus in their curiv.it . f
forts from the twin announce-ments
that:
(1) Guest speaker at the dinner
will be Dr. Abraham J. Heschel,
one of America's most noted schol-ars
and faculty member of the
Jewish Theological Seminary.
STROOCK VISIT
(2) Arriving in Los Angeles
Sunday, Oct. 27, to confer with
the campaign leaders will be Alan
M. Stroock, chairman of the Semi-nary's
board of directors. Stroock,
a prominent New York attorney,
has headed the Seminary's board
since 1947, the same year that the
University was founded as its
West Coast branch.
FAMED REPUTATION
Dr. Heschel's talk on Nov. 4 is
being eagerly awaited by those
who heard him as guest lecturer
at the Brandeis Camp's national
weekend institute, as well as those
who know of his national reputa-tion
as a professor, lecturer and
author. He has won wide acclaim
for his distinguished literary style
and for his profound and creative
approach to religious philosophy.

What are the many new and extended facilities offered
to the Los Angeles Jewish community by the University of
Judaism ?
That question will be answered at 8 p.m. Thursday,
Nov. 7, at a special "Preview" for all University Fellows in
the ten-story building at 6525 Sunset Blvd.
Here from New York to attend
a reception in his honor at the
"Preview" will be the University's
director, Dr. Simon Greenberg,
who will give the guests an out-line
of both what is now available
in the ten-story University build-ing
and the many facilities soon
to be added.
Who Are the Fellows?
The University Fellows are a
group of education-minded men
and women who contribute a mini-mum
of $125 each to help meet
the $160,000 maintenance budget
of the University of Judaism.
In so doing, the Fellowship
members, of whom 1,000 are need-ed
in the near future, have the
satisfaction of knowing that they
are the financial mainstay of the
day-to-day operation of the West
Coast's largest Jewish university.
In addition, these Fellows are
entitled to numerous privileges in
the use of the school's educational,
recreational and health club facili-ties,
as well as admission to its
special educational and cultural
programs.

UNIVERSITY OF JUDAISM
Development Program
Better Jewish Education for a Better Jewish Community!
When you support the Uni-versity
of Judaism you are in-suring
the f u t u r e of every
worthwhile Jewish undertaking.
We work as a Jewish Com-munity
for many worthy proj-ects
such as Welfare Funds,
Hospitals, Centers and Israel
and its institutions. If these
Jewish causes are to be perpetu-ated,
the J e w i s h community
spirit must be kept alive.
This can only be done through
a d u l t Jewish education and
higher Jewish learning. Our
Jewishness must be revitalized
so that we will have the vitality
and inspiration to continue our
efforts for a better Jewish life
for all, for years and genera-tions
to come.
Jewish Education does not
compete or interfere with any
project, but helps every project.
As a mater of fact, it is essen-tial
for the continuation of ev-ery
good thing we are doing as
a Jewish community.
Therefore, when you work for
the Development Program of
the University of Judaism, you
are doing a great service for
every facet of our Jewish com-munity
life.
